In the frame of Aircraft Modification activities conducted under EASA DOA Part 21J, Sabena Technics BGC is looking for a Quality Engineer with relevant experience. You will join Design Organization Approval community, Aircraft Modification domain.
In this role you will perform all independent system monitoring activities required by EASA Part 21 subpart J approved Design Organization approval.
Depending on skills and experience notably regarding knowledge level of Part 21 (including AMCs and GMs) and experience of auditing in an EASA environment (POA, DOA, MOA), you could be led to ensure HOISM responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Authority Coordination:
- Act as the focal point for EASA and other authorities (e.g., GCAA) on all matters related to the DOA quality system.
- Inform authorities of approval evolutions and modifications, maintaining associated privileges and limitations (DOM).
- Analyze findings from authorities, implement corrective action plans, and ensure timely submission of quality assessments.
- Manage compliance documentation, regulatory changes, and maintain a compliance matrix (e.g., CCL Compliance Checklist for EASA).
DOA Process Compliance:
- Plan, execute, and follow up on internal and external audits to ensure Part 21 regulation compliance.
- Support process owners in defining and maintaining Part 21-compliant processes and developing handbooks and procedures.
- Manage corrective actions, including root cause analysis, action implementation, and effectiveness verification.
- Monitor and implement improvement actions suggested by DOA staff.
Document Management:
- Ensure manuals, procedures, instructions, user guides, and forms are updated according to regulatory and operational changes.
- Maintain alignment with the company's overarching quality management system.
Skills Management:
- Organize onboarding and training for new team members, ensuring awareness of DOA processes.
- Plan and implement internal training, maintaining skills development for staff and auditors.
- Keep teams informed of regulatory and procedural changes, and develop necessary training modules.
Reporting:
- Provide regular updates on the performance and health of the Design Assurance System to the Head of Design Organisation (HDO).
- Report non-conformities, including serious issues (Level 1 or critical Level 2), to the HDO.
Supplier/Subcontractor Oversight:
- Support the evaluation, qualification, and monitoring of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Follow up on non-conformities, ensure corrective actions are implemented, and validate contracts with key partners.
Project Monitoring:
- Oversee DOA processes during project milestones, including classification, partner arrangements, Airworthiness Directive research, and change management compliance
Profil recherché
Skills and competence
- Ability to work successfully with EASA focal point, possible tight schedules and on technically challenging projects
- Current or recent employment within the aerospace industry working with an EASA Part 21J
- 5-10 years' experience in Aerospace/Aircraft modification field.
Knowledge of EASA certification process is an added value.
- Knowledge of Other National authorities is a plus.
- Knowledge in Design Assurance System
- Ability to convince and influence
- Adequate managerial and interpersonal skills,
- Fluent in English
- Ability to work on multiple programs with varying level of requirements efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and show flexibility to changing situations / demands.
- As HOISM:
- detailed knowledge of Part 21, including AMC and GM.
- Experience of auditing in an EASA environment (POA, DOA, MOA).
- Good general knowledge of all areas of the DOA scope.
- Basic holistic knowledge of the relevant Certification Specifications and other airworthiness code.
- Detailed knowledge of the Root Cause, Corrective Action and Preventive Action process.
- Experience of carrying out investigations into occurrences.
- Detailed knowledge of DOA procedures.
- Good general knowledge of all parts of the DOA process.
